Breaks In Airport Security - 4 Stories

Some may think that after so many controls and improvement in airline security the situation is completely under control. It should, as long as some of my friends have been taken apart when arriving to the US for a register, or simply have been delayed for inspection of their bags.

Hey, I’m not blind, they really don’t look like terrorists! In any case, far from being everything running properly with so much security, things couldn’t be worse in some occasions. Here I want to introduce you to some documented studies in which bypassing airline security was made in US airports. Of course, only for educational interests!

The first of the cases is right in New York JFK International. Apparently, somebody jumped on the runway and was able to move freely from here and there during 15 minutes before being noticed. Imagine if that person was not simply a crazy guy, but a potential terrorist!

Another case happens in the Washington Dulles airport. It seems that there are some secured zones that allow access only if you show the adequate ID. It shouldn’t be that difficult to control, true? So well, more than once it has happened that some persons have broken into this secured zones and even have been able to reach the runway, by simply acting as normal. That is really a good one, maybe they could let the guy at the baggage control machine take a rest and control it by themselves!

The next example is a story from the Los Angeles International Airport. Security has been a big issue there recently and many measures have been taken in order to avoid mistakes. But it seems the airport feels still like too big for them, as it has been reported that many times you can freely walk through the Authorized Personnel Only areas without being noticed! Do they want you to jump on the plane and serve the food as a flight crew or…?

Finally, last but not least, the San Francisco International Airport is not left behind in the failures in security. It is said that following a determined route, you can walk through some terminal’s unmarked doors, then move into the airline gates, and finally take a relaxing walk between all the planes, admiring how they take off and land. Caution! Keep away from the engines!

Sincerely, I don’t think this is the normal situation, but for this examples to be documented, many things need to go wrong. Probably they should stop registering my Spanish friends and look a bit around, don’t you think so? In any case, I’m not gonna complain, as I still haven’t done my research into cases in Spanish airports… Something tells me I will get a big surprise…
