For those wanting to experience Italy without the crowds and the sometimes unbearable summer heat, a tour of the north has plenty that appeals. Let’s take a look at some must-see highlights.
The rise of budget airlines has meant that it has never been easier to find a cheap flight to northern Italy. Both Milan and Verona have busy international airports, with flights from most major European cities. Verona is served by regular flights from London Gatwick, making it a perfect starting point for any tour.
If you can’t find a suitably priced flight from Verona, then you might also consider Bologna as a feasible alternative.

What a wonderful location for a vacation or a holiday home. Apart from the beautiful weather, fabulous italian food and the wonderful hospitality - there is much to admire in this area of Campania. From the glorious views of the Bay of Naples, to Sorrento, Pompei, Mt Vesuvius, Positano, Amalfi and Capri.
So to much enjoy. Sorrento is a splendid base for your exploration. There are many excellent hotels. During the evening the main town centre is closed to traffic - there an excellent range of shops, restaurants and bars. Do take a walk along the top of the cliffs overlooking the bay - there is a magnificent panorama at many stops. Many bars and restaurants have fabulous locations over the bay - our favourite was the Foreigner’s Club (not the best service but the view night and day is awesome). Try and buy a bottle of Limonello - there is a short bus excursion to the hills above Sorrento where this is made.

Having a Great Time in Italy
If by any chance Europe comes up, one place that the individual must visit is Italy. This country has a lot of history and culture and those who lived in this part of the world were those who established most of the things people enjoy today.
Exploring this country will take more than a week to do. This is because there are so many cities to choose from so it is best to plan the itinerary.
Those who want to see the works of Michelangelo and the center of the Church should visit Rome where the Vatican City and the Sistine Chapel are located. Remnants of the Roman Empire where gladiators once fought can be seen in the Colosseum while the Pantheon is also an important landmark to check out.

Lake Garda, the inland lake in north-east Italy, boasts more than 45 kilometres of beaches among its many attractions. It should come as no surprise that this is a region that tourists are increasingly flocking to reach.
On a warm June day here, tourists sit and admire the spectacular Alpine scenery reflecting in the still, delicate waters of Lake Garda. This region of Italy has a unique beauty - a beauty that is making it more and more popular with visitors from elsewhere in Europe and beyond.
The lake is surrounded by an array of pretty villages and stunning medieval towns. With the mountains providing a stunning backdrop, this is undoubtedly one of the most picturesque parts of Italy.

I decided to share my impressions about the trip to Rome as my emotions still linger…
The decision to go to Italy was made shortly before the journey, so we didn’t have much time to prepare for that. But we managed to organize the trip as quickly as possible. And, as it turned out, we planned everything very well.
Rome covered us in the suffocating heat as it’s extremely hot in Rome in August. We wanted to hire a taxi but didn’t like the faces of the drivers approaching us, so we decided to take a suburban train called “Leonardo Express”. I should say it’s rather comfortable and inexpensive.

Although the area’s past history is unmissable (see part 1), there is plenty to admire today about this famous area of Italy.
Capri is a must. If you go during July and August the island is overrun with tourists. There are many ferries running from the various ports on the main land. Capri’s port is very busy but you can escape the bedlam by heading for Anacapri by bus or taxi. Anacapri has splendid shops and restaurants but do take the chair lift to the summit. You can admire the panoramic view from the cafe on the summit. Of course, Capri town is a must see! The chic shops and a glimpse of a celeb is on offer. Be warned the town is extremely busy - only after the ferries have left can you really enjoy the town. Although a boat trip around the island is pleasant, the Blue Grotto is overrated.

One summer my friend and I decided to go to Italy during the summer holidays. Having read information about the tours we decided to do without travel agencies. We didn’t want to stick to strict programs, to be in the crowds of tourists, losing lots of possibilities to get acquainted with the country more intimately so we started to think over our trip.
We managed to do quite well: six days in Rome with a day-long journey to Florence. Italy took us by storm! We’ll try to go there again! We spent less than we expected. Of course, we spend nerves and time to arrange the trip, but Italy was worth that! Of course I was afraid lest something goes wrong, I was especially anxious about the visa. But everything went quite smoothly. So here’s my story.

If you like to travel and you like hiking, then you really should make the time and visit a tiny fishing village in Italy called Corniglia.
Known as the 3rd town of the “five lands” of the Cinque Terre, Corniglia is a frazione (the Italian word for fraction) of another nearby hamlet, Vernazza.
The Cinque Terre - made up of it’s five small villages, including Corniglia an Vernazza is found in the province of La Spezia, Liguria, Italy - what a mouthful! Of the five towns, Corniglia is considered to be the “quiet” town - particularly since it doesn’t have the glamor of an accessible beach front.

For some people, the perfect holiday might be summarized as follows: arrive at the airport, check into a luxury hotel, spend the rest of the time at the pool or the beach with the latest bestseller. That may be a good way to unwind and indulge in a bit of unstructured, do-nothing time, but it has always seemed to me to be a bit of a waste, especially when you are a foreign country. Not that I am advocating racing around museums or culturally worthy sights, especially when the weather is hot and you are faced with queues and cross children, but maybe there is a way to have the best of both worlds.
